The edgelearn.com website is owned and operated by Advantedge Education, Inc., a New York corporation. The Advantedge Education, Inc. Security and Privacy Policy is intended to inform you of our policies and practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information and other information you submit to us through edgelearn.com. By visiting, using and submitting information to edgelearn.com you agree to the practices detailed in this Security and Privacy Policy and in our Terms of Use.

What is Personal Information? As used in this Security and Privacy Policy, the term "Personal Information" means information that specifically identifies an individual (such as a name or e-mail address), or other information about that individual (such as mailing address or profession). Personal Information does not include "aggregate" information, which is data we collect about the use of edgelearn.com and is non-personally identifiable.

We take website security seriously. That’s why secured servers are used for conducting online transactions through edgelearn.com. In order to protect the information being gathered, steps have been taken to safeguard the integrity of data and protection of Personal Information. We will not be held liable should a third party illegally obtain your Personal Information. While we have made great efforts to protect your Personal Information, we cannot fully eliminate security risks associated with any data you transmit through us, and you do so at your own risk. Part of our obligation is to remind you that you also must take steps to protect your own computer including but not limited to keeping software up-to-date to protect against viruses, spyware, and malware.

We safeguard your billing information. All credit card transactions are processed through a secure payment gateway provider that uses the same level of encryption as leading banks. Card information is transmitted, stored, and processed securely on a PCI compliant network. This means we follow the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, which is a set of requirements designed to ensure that all companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. What information do we collect? When you enroll in an online course you will be asked for e-mail address, password (if you already have an account) and credit card information. When you create a new account, you will be asked for name, e-mail address, password, mailing address, and phone number. For certain state mandatory courses we are required to collect additional Personal Information as approved providers such as profession, license number, license state, date of birth, and social security number.

Personal Information is disclosed only in the following instances:

  1. When an accrediting agency requires verification that an individual has successfully completed a course, we report: name, contact information, and course completion.
  1. When a state agency requires verification that a mandated requirement was met, we may need to report: name, mailing address, profession, license number, date of birth, and social security number. Advantedge Education, Inc. currently reports to the New York State Education Department.
  1. When a business, institution, or other organization creates a Team Account, we provide access to name and course completion.

What do we do with your information? Personal Information and other information you submit or share with us is used to enable your online course access, to receive certificate(s) of completion, to report course verification, and to improve edgelearn.com. We use Google Analytics to better understand how visitors interact with our website. This service provides non-personally identifiable data including but not limited to data on where visitors came from, what actions they took on our site and where visitors went when they left our site. We are the sole owners of data collected on our website. Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share for marketing purposes the Personal Information that we collect with third parties. This does not include trusted third-party service providers who work with us to provide some of the services and features of edgelearn.com. Examples of such services include sending e-mail, course activity and progress tracking, and processing credit card payments. We limit the information provided to third-party providers to the extent necessary for them to provide the services and require such service providers to promise not to use such information except as necessary to provide the relevant services to us. 

We use security methods to determine your identity. You will need to verify your identity by logging in with your email address and password. To help protect your account, keep your password secure and do not reveal it to anyone. Remember to log out of your account and close your browser window, particularly if you are in a public location.

What about cookies? A cookie is a text file that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies track your personal preferences and activities, but in no way contain or refer to any Personal Information. We use cookies to enable course enrollment, logging in, and to record current session information. We do not require permanent cookies.

We may make changes to this policy. Advantedge Education, Inc. reserves the right to amend this Security and Privacy Policy at any time in its sole discretion and without notice. Any information we collect from you is subject to the current Security and Privacy Policy.
